Sustainability and our listed building

Listed buildings are not required by building control to adopt energy efficiency measures. Also there are very different challenges in doing any Green measures. The practices used in newer buildings could actually damage the fabric of an older building. However it is not impossible and can be incorporated easier if extensive renovation is planned. This building dates back to the 1400s evolving over many years.

We have insulated the side tiles and roof with rockwall and applied further waterproofing with a new breatheable membrane.

We have installed a ground source heat pump to provide heating and hot water.

There is a well which we are using for grey water.

Listed Building Consent and Planning Permission

There are over 50 documents relating to our listed building application on the council website, permission has now been granted on these.

The Grounds

Market Garden - we have formed a cooperative with our neighbours to create a market garden and have recently bought chickens to share.
